Pipeline and Underground

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a steerable trenchless method of installing underground pipes, conduits and cables.

HDD is used for building underground infrastructure such as telecommunications and power cable conduits, water lines, sewer lines, gas lines, oil lines, product pipelines, and environmental remediation casings.

Since most of the ground surface remains undisturbed this trenchless technology protects our environments natural resources such as creek beds and wetlands by drilling beneath them. It is used for crossing waterways, roadways, shore approaches, congested areas, environmentally sensitive areas, and areas where other methods are costlier or not possible. Area traffic flow continues without interruption and communities remain visually pleasing

Not only does this technology save time, it saves money.

Plowing is another trenchless method of placing underground cable or conduit.

Cable or conduit is either pulled or fed through the plow blade for placement. Under the right conditions, plowing has several advantages and can be extremely cost-effective. It causes low traffic disruption; there is no mixing of soils; there is almost no compaction and, like any good trenchless technique, it offers good environmental compatibility and produces little ground damage.

Our current line of plowing equipment is capable of depths up to 5 feet and feeding conduit up to 2" in diameter.

Trenching

Trenchers are used when laying pipes, conduit or cable. Trenchers come in different sizes and may use different digging implements, depending on the required width and depth of the trench and the hardness of the surface to be cut. We utilize two types of equipment, chain trenchers and rock wheels, depending on the job that needs done. We have capabilities of cutting trench up to 40” deep and 4.5 inches wide.
